Firewood
On the device, record wood that is sold as firewood rather than as logs, from a tree or as a pile at the lot level, in ster, m³ or tonnes.
What this is for
Not all wood leaves the forest as logs. Branches, tops, a rotten tree or a tree the mill refused can be sold as firewood. Firewood records how much of it there is, so the office can compare it with what leaves on trucks.
Each entry is a quantity in one unit: ster (a stacked cubic metre), m³ or tonnes. An entry keeps the unit it was recorded in. The app never converts one unit into another.
Firewood works without signal, like everything in the forest.
Firewood from a tree
- Open the tree on the number pad.
- On the tree's page, under the Steps card, tap Firewood from this tree.
- Quantity: type it on the keypad.
- Unit: tap Ster, m³ or Tonnes. The device starts with the last unit used on it.
- What it is (optional): Branches, Tops, Rotten, Refused or Other.
- When the whole tree went to firewood (rotten, or refused for logs), tick The whole tree went to firewood.
- Cut or stacked by (optional), and Add a note if something is worth noting.
- Tap Save the firewood.
The app goes back with Undo for a few seconds, as after every record. A tree can have several entries: the branches in ster and the top in tonnes, for example. Under the form, Firewood from this tree lists them with their total, one per unit; + New firewood starts another.
A pile without a tree
For firewood that belongs to no single tree, such as a pile of branches at a landing:
- On the number pad, tap Firewood (no tree).
- Fill it in as above, and tap Save the firewood. There is no "whole tree" here.
Under the form, Firewood without a tree lists the lot's piles with their total, one per unit.
Change or delete an entry
Open the tree's firewood, or Firewood (no tree) for a pile, and tap the entry in the list. The quantity, the unit, what it is, who and the note can change; tap Save the firewood. To delete it, tap Delete this firewood, then Delete.
The lot and the tree stay as the entry was first saved: an entry on the wrong tree is deleted and recorded again on the right one.
Deleting a tree's records, or moving them to another tree, leaves its firewood where it is. Open the firewood and change or delete it there.
Firewood on a truck
Firewood goes on a load like logs: see Truck loads. A truck can carry firewood alone.
Totals and the office
The device and the console show firewood totals per unit, for example "12 ster · 3.5 t". Where your organization has set Firewood: solid m³ in one ster (in the console, under Company rules), the console also shows one combined figure in m³, saying which factor it used. Tonnes are never part of it.
