Loads and yard intake

How crews put logs on a truck, how the office reads a load, and how arrivals at the yard are compared with what was loaded.

What this is for

A load is one truck leaving the landing: a driver, a plate, a time, and the codes of the logs on it. Material without a tag can go on a load too, counted in pieces. When the truck arrives at the yard, the yard records what it found: that is intake. Tomruq compares the two.

How a crew records a load (device)

  1. On the number pad, tap Truck loads, then + New load. Or, on a tree's page, tap Put on a truck load at step 3, Shipment: the tree's logs are added for you.
  2. Driver: the last driver used on this device is offered. Tap Change to pick another, or + Not on the list to add one.
  3. Plate: the last plate used with this driver is offered. Otherwise type it on the letter keypad.
  4. Codes on the logs: type the digits of a code. Matching codes from logs bucked on this device appear. Tap each one to add it. For a code with letters, tap ABC beside the box to open the letter keypad. For a log bucked on another device or on paper, type the whole code with its dash and tap Add; the app asks to confirm.
  5. Optional: + Untagged material, with a + Measured row (length and diameter) or a + Counted row (length and number of pieces).
  6. Tap Save the load. If something is missing, Still needed before saving: says what.

The app refuses a code that is already on another load, and says which one.

A tree's logs can leave on several trucks. Until all of them are on a load, the tree's Shipment step shows how many are, such as "1 of 3 logs on a truck", and offers Put the other 2 logs on a truck. The step is done once every log is on a load. Each load on the step says how the yard received it.

On the device, each load shows a status: Waiting to send, Sent, Refused or Received at the yard.

When the server refuses a load

Two devices offline can put the same code on two trucks. The server keeps the first and refuses the second. The crew sees it under Needs attention, with the code and the load that holds it.

  • Open the load without these codes: the load opens with the refused codes marked. Tap Take the marked codes off, check, and save. The refusal goes away.
  • A code under the wrong tree: Open and fix the code opens the load or the intake with the code marked.
  • A load whose driver, plate or date was changed: Open with the first details.
  • A load deleted on another device: Record it again as new.

The office sees the same refusals under To fix. See Fixing refused records.

How the office reads loads (console)

Open the lot and click the Loads tab. Each load shows when it was loaded, the plate, the number of logs, the volume, pieces without a tag, and its State:

StateMeans
On the wayLoaded, not received yet
Received, as loadedEverything loaded arrived, and nothing else
Received, with differencesWhat arrived is not what was loaded
DeletedThe load was voided. It is kept, as every record is

Click a load to see its driver, every code on it with its tree, and what the yard found. Differences are spelled out: codes loaded and not found, codes found and not loaded, and pieces without a tag loaded against counted.

Codes not matched to a log yet are codes typed on the load that no bucking backs, yet. Usually the bucking is still on a device without signal. If it stays, it is a typo or a log from elsewhere, and the lot's checks flag it.

Without a tag, further down the Loads tab, adds up material without a tag: pieces felled against pieces on trucks.

Yard intake (device)

The yard records what arrived on the device app.

  1. On the number pad, tap Arrivals at the yard. Loads show On the way or Received, newest first, from every lot. A load shows here once the landing's device has sent it and this device has synced.
  2. Tap a load to receive it.
  3. Tick the codes that arrived: tap each under On the load, or type a code under Code found on the truck and tap Tick. Tick all ticks every code at once.
  4. A code found on the truck but not on the load: type it. It is listed under Found, not on the load, under its tree. When two lots share the tree number, the app asks which lot.
  5. Untagged pieces: type the pieces counted, or leave it Not counted. "Not counted" is not the same as zero.
  6. Check Received by (the last person is offered) and Arrived.
  7. The panel at the top compares as you go: ✓ All arrived, or Not as loaded with the codes missing, the codes extra and the pieces.
  8. Tap Save the intake, or Save it as it arrived when something differs.

Undo works for a few seconds after saving, as for every record. To count a load again, open it under Received and tap Count load … again. The new count replaces the old one, and both stay in the history.

The office reads the result on the load's page, and the lot's checks flag a load received differently.

Check a lot's progress (device)

On the number pad, tap Overview of the lot. It shows, for the lot the device works in:

  • the figures: trees, standing, felled, bucked, at the saw, sawn, the recorded volume, logs, and utilization (provisional until enough trees are measured);
  • Today: trees felled and bucked today, by person. Tap a tree to open it;
  • Trees: the tree list, with Search by number or tag and a filter per stage. A tree counts once, under the furthest stage it reached.

Auditors can open the overview and every page, and record nothing.

Tips

  • One code, one load. If a log really moved to another truck, take it off the first load (Edit load…), then the second load is accepted.
  • To change the driver, plate or time of a saved load: delete it and record it again. They are locked once saved.
  • Load manifests can be exported per load. See Exports.
  • Loads have no number of their own. Find one by its plate with Search.
